Thank you for your service and I am glad you made it back home safely.

Now to get on with the rest of your life...

You are right that not much changes from one war to another. I often wonder why we Americans need to have constant war. Maybe we should try peace for a while?Edwardjonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07663739196164559384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1392317335118670124.post-67280361781991835412011-02-12T22:57:32.396-08:002011-02-12T22:57:32.396-08:00Hello Mr. Jon,

He turned out to be a good leader after all, though.

I've completed my term of service and am now home. Currently a student, using the Post 9/11 GI bill for school.

I'm a bit older and (I think) much wiser now from the experience. Out of all the stuff I did, the most memorable was funeral detail for my battalion. I was among the seven for the 21 gun salute and sometimes the "bugler", albeit with a trumpet containing a speaker.

I was present at many funerals, from young troopers to old veterans; and I saw that not much changes in the grand scheme of things. From WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Desert Storm/Shield, OIF/OEF, there's always a battle, conflict or war, and young men will pay the price, sooner or later.

Take care,

DavidDavid in Californianoreply@blogger.com
